La Ciudad de Panam\u00e1 cuenta con espacios verdes limitados, siendo el Cerro Anc\u00f3n uno de ellos, accesible en todo momento. La caminata en el Cerro Anc\u00f3n de naturaleza e historia ofrece una visita guiada hasta el punto m\u00e1s alto de la ciudad. La mayor parte del cerro permanece sin urbanizar y funciona como una reserva natural de 48,25 hect\u00e1reas con selva tropical. El punto m\u00e1s alto, al que antes se pod\u00eda acceder en coche, ahora solo es accesible mediante una caminata de 30 a 45 minutos. Los visitantes pueden observar una gran variedad de fauna, incluyendo perezosos, armadillos, tamarinos de Geoffroy, iguanas, coat\u00edes, agut\u00edes, venados, murci\u00e9lagos y numerosas especies de aves, como tucanes. En total, 68 especies animales y 212 especies vegetales habitan la zona.<\/p>\n\n

Con una elevaci\u00f3n de 199 metros sobre el nivel del mar, el cerro Anc\u00f3n es el punto m\u00e1s alto de la ciudad de Panam\u00e1. La cima ofrece vistas impresionantes del horizonte urbano, el Casco Viejo, la zona portuaria y el Canal de Panam\u00e1. En la base de la colina hay varios edificios notables, incluido el hist\u00f3rico Hospital Gorgas. La residencia del Administrador del Canal de Panam\u00e1 \u2014cargo anteriormente conocido como Gobernador de la Zona del Canal\u2014 sigue ubicada en el cerro Anc\u00f3n, junto a las viviendas de altos oficiales militares en Quarry Heights, lugar donde comienza la caminata.<\/p>\n\n

Aqu\u00ed se puede encontrar la bandera m\u00e1s grande del pa\u00eds, que mide 15 metros por 10 metros, equivalente al tama\u00f1o de una cancha de baloncesto. Esta bandera se exhibe desde 1977. El recorrido tambi\u00e9n profundiza en los aspectos hist\u00f3ricos del Cerro Anc\u00f3n, que formaba parte de la antigua Zona del Canal, territorios ocupados por el ej\u00e9rcito de Estados Unidos. Los Tratados Torrijos-Carter se firmaron en 1977, lo que permiti\u00f3 la devoluci\u00f3n del cerro a Panam\u00e1, mientras que el resto de la Zona del Canal se devolvi\u00f3 gradualmente hasta el a\u00f1o 2000, cuando Panam\u00e1 recuper\u00f3 el control total de su canal.<\/p>\n\n
