This experience is offered from September to January and begins in the morning at 6:00 a.m. at the Cambutal turtle hatchery. A guide will inspect the nests for hatchlings that have emerged overnight, collect them, and carry them to the beach. This early morning timing helps protect the turtles from overheating and predators, and the calmer sea conditions facilitate the hatchlings&#8217; journey into the ocean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This activity is organized by TortuAgro, a local non-profit focused on turtle conservation, which collaborates with Tortuguias, the organization responsible for the turtle release excursions in Punta Chame. Your participation aids in the conservation of sea turtles. If you take part in the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/thepanama.club\/es\/trip\/cambutal-turtle-nesting-experience\/\">turtle nesting experience in Cambutal<\/a><\/strong>, you may assist in collecting eggs laid by mother turtles and relocating them to the hatchery for protection, which can also take place in the morning if a nest has not been previously identified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2025, a total of 313 nests were relocated to the Cambutal hatchery, containing 29,824 eggs, from which 25,013 hatchlings emerged. By November 2026, 346 nests had been relocated. Participants are allowed to help remove the baby turtles from the nests using gloves. Most of these nests belong to the olive ridley sea turtle, the smallest and most critically endangered species of sea turtle.
