The Gamboa Aerial Tram is the only tram that operates above the rainforest. It offers a 600-meter ride in a gondola that traverses the canopy, providing a unique perspective compared to ground level. During the ride, passengers may observe various birds that nest in the treetops, as well as sloths and different species of monkeys. An audio guide is available to provide information about the local flora and fauna, as well as details about the region.
The journey concludes at Pelado (Bare) Hill, where visitors can take a short walk along a trail to reach a large observation tower that stands 30 meters high. Climbing the nine levels of the tower is optional and relatively easy, allowing access for individuals in wheelchairs via ramps.
The top of the observation deck offers panoramic 360-degree views of Soberania National Park, including glimpses of some indigenous Embera communities residing in the area. Additionally, visitors can see the point where the Chagres River enters the Panama Canal, contributing to the water supply for Gatun Lake and facilitating ship passage. Guests can remain in the observation tower for as long as they wish, as it features a roof for the comfort of visitors.
